What is FitnessTidbits about?
Welcome to FitnessTidbits, where I share practical advice, personal experiences, and the latest in fitness gear to help you break through frustrating plateaus.
After nearly three years of dedicated training, I’ve explored various routines, from the classic bro split to more technical methods like PUSH PULL LEGS, drawing inspiration from fitness experts such as Jeff Nippard. While these routines have shaped my foundation, I’ve recently felt the need to carve out my own path.
Exploring Different Training Styles
In fitness, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Like many others, I began with the classic bro split, targeting one muscle group per day. This method helped me grasp the basics of muscle growth, experiment with various exercises, and perfect my form. After about six months, I transitioned to a PUSH PULL LEGS routine, praised for its efficiency and balance. I believed it would yield faster results by training muscle groups twice a week. However, as a beginner, the volume quickly overwhelmed me, leading to injuries—a shoulder strain from heavy bench presses and lower back issues from squats and deadlifts. To continue my fitness journey while recovering, I turned to a combination of running and calisthenics, or “Cardiosthenics.”
Why I Switched to a Full-Body Routine
Over the past year, I embraced a full-body routine inspired by the legendary Steve Reeves. This approach helped me build a solid base of strength. However, I hit a plateau, prompting me to experiment with unconventional and niche training styles.
Due to a busy schedule, I needed a routine that was flexible yet effective. I opted for a full-body workout three times a week, incorporating active rest days with swimming or running. I also used supersets to make my workouts more time-efficient. Despite the benefits, I noticed a stall in my strength gains, signaling it was time to switch things up again.
Overcoming Plateaus: What’s Next?
Plateaus are a common part of any fitness journey, but they don’t have to stop your progress. Recognizing the need for a new challenge, I began researching unorthodox training styles. Over the next few months, I’ll document my progress, sharing what works and what doesn’t, along with actionable tips for your own training regimen.
Gadgets and Supplements
In addition to new training routines, I’ll be testing various tools and supplements aimed at enhancing performance. Expect honest reviews and recommendations on whether these products are worth incorporating into your routine.
